How about a luxury picnic by Big Bear Picnic Co.? A trendy and timeless take on an old-school romantic date. Let them do all the work to curate the best picnic experience.
With a handful of packages to choose from, you can go for the one that’s perfect for you and your partner.
Go For a Hike

Surrounded by San Bernardino National Forest, you won’t lack for great trails and outdoor activities in the area. With so many great hiking trails in Big Bear, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from based on your fitness level and how challenging of an activity you want. Bristlecone Trail is walking distance from our cabins if you don’t want to go out of your way for your hike.
Before you hit the trails, swing by Moonridge Coffee Co for a cup of the best coffee in town. That way you’re sure to start your morning off on the right foot and get your blood pumping before you even start your hike.
If you’re not as motivated by hiking, other good alternatives are to either go mountain biking, ATV riding, or horseback riding. These are both great ways to enjoy the same views as you would on a hike. If you’re visiting in the summer, kayaking is a great way to enjoy the lake and beat the heat!
Say Hi to the Animals at the Big Bear Zoo
Show your sensitive side and squeal over some new fuzzy friends at the new Big Bear Alpine Zoo. This is actually a rehab facility offering injured, orphaned, and imprinted wild animals a safe haven. While it’s not nearly as big as the famous San Diego Zoo, it’s a great program to support and really, who doesn’t love watching cute animals?
Hit the Slopes
If you visit us during the winter (and sometimes the spring and fall, too), you’ll be able to hit the slopes with your loved one. Who doesn’t love a winter day of snow play? Personally, we think skiing or snowboarding is one of the most fun things you can do in the area.
Whether you’re new to the sport and need a lesson or you’re a seasoned pro, spending a day skiing or snowboarding is a really great way to spend time with your partner.
The only decision you’ll need to make is which mountain you’d like to go to. The everlasting debate of Bear Mountain vs. Snow Summit is now yours to take on. Spoiler- you can’t go wrong with either, it just depends on what vibes you’re after.
Our cabins are located just a short walk to the shuttle. Just remember, if you don't get hot cocoa afterward, it doesn't count!
Indulge in a Couples Massage
There are a handful of luxury spas in the Big Bear area that offer great massages and other spa services for a relaxing romantic activity. We highly recommend Altitudes Massage & Spa and Elevations Day Spa. Both of these spas offer a variety of packages and one-off treatments for you to choose from.
Have a Drink or Two

For added indulgence, after your massage, head to Barrel 33, Big Bear’s wine bar. Here you can enjoy wine tasting or simply a glass of wine to cap off your day.

There’s plenty of other options for good drinks, a nice meal, and even live music in Big Bear Lake Village. With so many great restaurants in Big Bear, two of our favorites for a nice meal are Peppercorn Grille and The Pines Lakefront.
Spend the Night Stargazing
What's more romantic than being surrounded by tall pine trees, open skies, and fresh mountain air. The night sky in Big Bear never gets old. When stargazing at Big Bear, you'll see countless stars and the lights of neighboring cities.
Because of the Valley's altitude and lack of bright city lights, Big Bear is an ideal destination for stargazing and viewing planetary movements and meteor showers.
Download one of many free stargazing mobile apps to help you navigate the sky above! Visit Bear Valley Astronomers and The Big Bear Solar Observatory for additional info and to find star maps and stargazing insights.
With this, you and your partner will be more than ready to spend a romantic trip in Big Bear. These 7 romantic things to do will make time in Big Bear memorable and one you’ll want to recreate year after year.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Firefly last March. It was the single most beautiful getaway I have ever had out of LA. The cabin is exquisitely done. It’s a homey cabin but with a modern flair of sharp design and style. It has the best loft bedroom area, amazing fireplace and fully equipped with modern appliances. It was snowing when we were there, the walks around the neighborhood were breathtaking. I highly recommend this place! Get out of the mayhem and treat yourself to this gem. Here’s the view from inside ❤️
